K. Huggs is a well known Air Personality changing the way that the Smooth Jazz format is known to be broadcasted. K. Huggs offers the best in smooth Jazz with lots of personality. Huggs has befriended and is connected with some of the best Smooth Jazz Artists, Spoken Word Poets, Comedians, Authors, Film Makers and more... But, don’t let the DJ personality fool you. K. is more than a nice face and a fun show. K. has a diverse career background that you might be surprised to learn. K. Huggs is a singer and began doing DJ work in the early ‘90’s as part of a plan to get her name established to help her former pursuit towards a singing career. Interestingly, K. Huggs never set out to become a radio personality. After having a variety of past careers that included an I.V. Technician, Lab Technician, a Stock Broker, an Investment Coordinator for a wealth management company, Web Design, Partner in a Real Estate Investment company, and a Mortgage Broker, K. Huggs’ learned without intention that music and radio are her first loves.
K. Huggs started with Smooth Jazz Indy, IndyJZ.com (now called Cool Groove Radio) as an air personality in November of 2008. K. has been live on the air each weekday ever since, creating a fan base of loyal listeners and artists that enjoy and support her show. Her show with Smooth Jazz Indy was held each afternoon from 1-4 EST and was called, "After Lunch With K Huggs" where K. Huggs was known to deliver Smooth Jazz with an exciting twist.
While K. was with Smooth Jazz Indy, she came up with the concept to air a daily word of encouragement on her show and later added Audrey Wilcox as a motivational speaker on her show which was well received by her audience. In addition, K. decided that she wanted to air spoken word poets each day on her show to give the listeners a chance to hear uplifting poetry. K. began airing poetry each weekday at 3:00pm EST faithfully and named the segment, “Spoken Word On the Third Hour” with the slogan “Speaking Life into your life”. K. Huggs is bringing the same concepts and segments with her to Neo Jazz Radio and plans to expand upon her ideas that were received well and enjoyed by the listeners. K. Hugg’s bubbly personality ensures that her delivery of smooth jazz will never be boring. K. has been compared to a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gong to get when she’s on the air! K. Huggs will make you laugh while enjoy your favorite Smooth Jazz songs, Poets and Neo Soul!
K. has been singing and writing since she was a child. Over the years, she has done studio work and numerous performances locally. Some performances have included the Indiana Black Expo Pageant, Live Radio Performance during Circle City Classic, Radio Commercials, New Years Eve Live performance, Demo samples for song writers, Weddings, Live Band at Governors Convention in French Lick Indiana and so forth. K. sings Gospel, CLEAN R&B, Soul and Jazz.
K. Huggs was previously with the Gospel Group 4Given. In the summer of 2008, she performed with the awesome band Sheba at the Indiana Black Expo. She remains independent and continues to write, record and perform soulful music and poetry! You may just hear Neo Jazz’s very own K. Huggs during “Spoken Word on the Third Hour”. Currently she still works with some awesome singers, producers, songwriters and musicians.
